This paper presents experimental and numerical studies of the vertical stress distribution beneath centerline circular footings resting on sand. Vertical values due to load in medium-dense sand were measured using soil transducers. Reduced-scale laboratory model tests carried out a square-shaped test box, stresses at footing different depths In order determine effect width distribution, experiments performed diameters. addition, series finite element analyses was validate findings study. analysis, modeled as non-linear elastoplastic material. The method with two-dimensional axisymmetric three-dimensional conditions. results obtained from analysis compared theoretical solution literature. horizontal planes any depth base shows same characteristic form all methods.
